REGULAR BOARD MEETING

MEETING WAS CALLED TO ORDER AT 6 PM BY CLERK BARBARA EGELER, SUPERVISOR JIM MAZUR WAS ABSENT, AND SO

WAS TRUSTEE BOB KESLING,  TRUSTEE JEROME PAPES WAS PRESENT AND SO WAS TREASURER PATTI GEERS.  WE HAD 5 GUESTS.

MINUTES WERE APPROVED AS PRESENTED.

COUNTY COMMISSIONER JANET ANDERSEN GAVE THE COUNTY REPORT. THE COUNTY LAND BANK AUTHORITY BOARD

WAS APPOINTED BY THE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONER’S.   MEMBERS ARE – ANDREW KEMETZ, COUNTY TREASURER (CHAIR)

MARK BARNETT, MAYOR, CITY OF LUDINGTON, FABIAN KNIZACKY, JIM RIFFLE, AND JANET ANDERSEN.  SENIOR SERVICES COORID-

INATOR BEGAN ON 9-5-23.  THE COUNTY BOARD IS LOOKING TO APPROVE APPROPRIATIONS FOR SENIOR CENTERS. SCOTTVILLE-

$291,000.00, LUDINGTON -$239,494.00, FREE SOIL – $51,840.00,  TALLMAN – $45,288.00.  MEALS- -0-, HELP –  -0-.  THE COUNTY RE-

CEIVED A MERMA GRANT FOR $100,000.00 FOR A CAMERA SYSTEM FOR THE MASON COUNTY JAIL.  A HOUSING STUDY WILL BE

PRESENTED 9-25-23 @LUDINGTON CENTER FOR THE ARTS AT 1:30, SCOTTVILLE MCC HIGH SCHOOL AT 7:30. THE COUNTY IS GOING

LIVE WITH THE SEARCH FOR A NEW COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR.  GOV. WITMER SEEMS TO HAVE THE SUPPORT FOR A LEGISLATIVE

PUSH TO REQUIRE MICHIGAN UTILITES TO BE 100 PERCENT CLEAN ENERGY BY 2035.  GOV. WHITMER SEEMS TO ALSO HAVE SUP-

PORT THAT WOULD MOVE PERMITTING OF WIND AND SOLAR PROJECTS TO THE MPSA, STRIPPING LOCAL CONTROLS FROM THOSE

WHO KNOW THEIR COMMUNITIES BEST.  THESE MANDATES ARE GIVEN WITHOUT A MAP OF HOW TO GET US THERE.  THE NEED

TO TALK TO YOUR LEGISLATORS, IS NOW.

JEROME MADE A MOTION TO APPROVE PAYMENT OF BILLS.  PATTI SECONDED

MOTION CARRIED.

TREASURER REPORTED THAT THE MONEY MARKET FUND BALANCE ON 7/31/23 WAS $413,704.91, RECEIPTS FOR

AUGUST WERE $706.49, INTEREST WAS $52.44, DISBURSEMENTS WERE $39,097.75.  LEAVING A BALANCE OF $375,366.09 ON

8/31/23.

CHECKING ACCOUNT BALANCE REMAINS AT $300.00 ON 8/31/23.

PERPETUAL CARE CERTIFICATE BALANCE REMAINS AT $62,821.14 ON 8/31/23.

PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT FUND BALANCE REMAINS $302,267.50 ON 8/31/23.

HALL RESERVATION FUND BALANCE ON 7/31/23 WAS $1,120.78,  NO RECEIPTS, NO DISBURSEMENTS, INTEREST

WAS .05 cents, LEAVING A BALANCE OF $1,120.83 ON 8/31/23.

TAX ACCOUNT BALANCE ON 7/31/23 WAS $86,680.09, RECEIPTS FOR AUGUST WERE $201,541.52, DISBURSEMENTS WERE

$141,967.75,  LEAVING A BALANCE OF $146,253.86 ON 8/31/23,

TREASURERS REPORT ACCEPTED AS PRESENTED.

CLERK REPORTED THAT AFTER MEETING WITH TOWNSHIP CLERKS AND ATTORNEY FROM BUREAU OF ELECTIONS, IT WAS

DECIDED THAT IT WOULD BE BEST TO CONSOLIDATE THE” MANDATED NINE DAYS OF IN PERSON VOTING “ FOR ALL FEDERAL AND

STATE ELECTIONS,  THE CLERKS ARE ALL GETTING TOGETHER AGAIN ON 9-18-23 TO WORK OUT ALL THE DETAILS.
