REGULAR BOARD MEETING

MAY 2, 2022

(PROPOSED MINUTES)

 

MEETING WAS CALLED TO ORDER AT 6 PM BY SUPERVISOR JIM MAZUR,  BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT WERE CLERK            BARBARA EGELER, TRUSTEE JEROME PAPES, TRUSTEE BOB KESLING, TREASURER PATTI GEERS WAS ABSENT.  WE HAD 11 GUEST.

MINUTES WERE APPROVED AS PRESENTED.

BOB MADE A MOTION TO APPROVE PAYMENT OF BILLS.  JEROME SECONDED

MOTION CARRIED

COUNTY COMMISSIONER JANET ANDERSEN GAVE THE COUNTY REPORT, THE 2023 BUDGET WAS APPROVED.  AND A WORKSHOP ON BROADBAND STUDY, IS BEING HELD ON MAY 24, 2022.

SHERIFF’S REPORT GIVEN BY SHERIFF KIM COLE, THERE WERE 10 CALLS IN THE TOWNSHIP.

NANCY VANDERVEST GAVE A REPORT ON THE BALANCED ASSESSMENT ROLLS.

TREASURERS REPORT WAS READ BY THE CLERK.  MONEY MARKET FUND BALANCE ON 3/31/22 WAS $334,679.88,          RECEIPTS FOR APRIL WERE $5,875.65, DISBURSEMENTS WERE $13,718.69, INTEREST WAS $27.79.  LEAVING A FUND BALANCE OF      $326,864.63 ON 4/30/22.

CHECKING ACCOUNT BALANCE REMAINS AT $300.00 ON 4/30/22.

PERPETUAL CARE CERTIFICATE BALANCE REMAINS AT $62,821.14 ON 4/30/22.

PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT FUND BALANCE REMAINS AT $292,216.59 ON 4/30/22.

HALL RESERVATION FUND BALANCE ON 3/31/22 WAS $1,120.03, NO RECEIPTS, NO DISBURSEMENTS, INTEREST WAS .05 CENTS,  LEAVING A BALANCE OF $1,120.08 ON 4/30/22.

TAX ACCOUNT BALANCE WAS .00 ON 3/31/22, AND REMAINS AT .00 ON 4/30/22.

TREASURERS REPORT ACCEPTED AS PRESENTED.

A MOTION WAS MADE BY JEROME AND SECONDED BY BOB TO APPROVE DOCK PERMITS FOR LUCIUS BECK, AND CHARLES  STOUT.

MOTION CARRIED

MOTION WAS MADE BY BOB AND SECONDED BY JEROME TO APPROVE THE ANNUAL FINANCIAL REPORT.

MOTION CARRIED

SPRING CLEANUP WILL BE HELD AT WASTE REDUCTION TRANSFER SITE ON MAY 21, 2022 FROM 9AM – 12 NOON.

MOTION WAS MADE BY BOB AND SECONDED BY JEROME TO REAPPROVE THE ROAD CONTRACT THAT WERE APPROVED  AT THE JANUARY MEETING DUE TO THE RISING COST OF SUPPLIES.  DEWEY ROAD BETWEEN STILES AND AMBER FOR WEDGING, CHIP SEAL W/ FOG SEAL. AND, VICTORY CORNER ROAD N OF DEWEY AND SOUTH 1, 150 ’ OR ALMOST A 1/4 MILE FOR WEDGING, CHIP SEAL W/ FOG SEAL. AND, APPROVE THE BRINE CONTRACT.

ANDREW SEBOLT CAME TO SPEAK TO THE BOARD AND THOSE ATTENDING, TO ANNOUNCE HE IS RUNNING FOR 102nd STATE REPRESENTATIVE.  COVERING MANISTEE, MASON, MUSKEGON, OCEANA COUNTIES.

DICK ROWLEY AND AL BUFKA FROM GRANT FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME BACK TO TALK TO THE BOARD AGAIN ABOUT THE STRYKER MEDICAL DEVICE, THAT THEY ARE TRYING TO RAISE FUNDS FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT.  THEY HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN GETTING SEVERAL ENTITIES (NOT JUST TOWNSHIPS) TO DONATE TOWARDS THIS LIFE SAVING DEVICE THAT WILL BE BENEFICIAL  TO HAVE ON THE FIRST RESPONDER TRUCK WHEN THEY GET CALLED OUT.  THEY FIRST HAD ASKED IN MARCH FOR AROUND $5 K,  AND, AFTER COMING BACK THEY ASKED THE TOWNSHIP TO CHIP IN $3,000.00.  THE BOARD DISCUSSED IT.

JIM MADE A MOTION TO APPROVE  $3,000.00 FROM VICTORY TOWNSHIP TOWARDS THIS DEVICE.  JEROME SECONDED
