Regular Board Meeting
December 2, 2024
- The meeting was called to order at 6:00 pm by Supervisor Bob Kesling. Board members present were Clerk Sarah Grabowski, Trustee Jerome Papes, Trustee Wayne Andersen, Treasurer Patti Geers. There were 14 guests in attendance.
- A motion was made by Andersen with support from Papes to approve the minutes as presented.
- A motion was made by Papes with support from Andersen to approve the payment of November bills. Also, approved were December disbursements to PLM for Hamlin Lake Treatment $1140.00, Michigan Township Association for new Clerk Training $380.00, Charley Miszewski for surveying the township park, North and South Victory cemeteries $2800.00. Motion carried.
- County Commissioner Janet Andersen gave county report. A letter was received from EGLE regarding 53-Lakeside Energy Storage LLC – North Victory Corner Road, a proposed battery energy storage facility. 129 Applicants for the Chill Grant. County Board meets Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at 7:00pm
- Sheriff Kim Cole reported 35 calls in the Township.
- The treasurer reported that the money market fund balance on 10/31/24 $346,661.20, Receipts were $28894.00, Interest $1,128.14, Disbursements $38520,66, Leaving a balance of $338,162.68 on 11/30/24.
Checking account balance 11/30/24 $300.00.
Perpetual Care Certificate remains at $62,821.14 on 11/30/24.
Public Improvement Fund Balance remains at $321,628.50 on 11/30/24.
Hall Reservation Fund Balance on 10/31/24 was $1,121.50, no receipts, no disbursements, interest was $.05 cents, leaving a balance of $1,121.55 on 11/30/24.
Tax Account Balance on 10/31/24 was $10,634.46, Receipts $6,529.21, Disbursements of $6,660.37, no interest for a balance of $10,503.30 on 11/30/24.
A motion was made by Andersen supported by Papes to approve a resolution for the Treasurer Office to charge 3% interest for tax payments made February15 thru February 28 and a 1% administration fee on tax bills. Motion passed.
- The Clerk requested a motion to remove Barb and her to the Township checking account. A motion was made by Papes and supported by Kesling. Motion carried.
The Clerk also requested a motion to remove Barb as the Administrator of the Pension Plan and add her. A motion was made by Andersen and supported by Papes. Motion Carried.
- The supervisor reported that the survey is completed, and fence posts have been placed to mark the property lines. Met with Jeff Schwass regarding disc golf at Victory Park. The association will meet December 14, 2024, to discuss.
A proposed resolution to support the Local Control and Claim of Appeal against the MPSC was presented. A roll call was taken yea’s Kesling, Papes, Andersen, Geers, Grabowski. Nays None. Absent None.
- Trustee Papes and Trustee Andersen had nothing to report.
- Tom Cosenza spoke about his opposition to the battery energy storage facility.
Dale Goodrich introduced himself as the Administrator of the Rural Fire Authority
