MEETING WAS CALLED TO ORDER AT 6 PM BY CLERK BARBARA J. EGELER, SUPERVISOR JIM MAZUR WAS ABSENT, BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT WERE TRUSTEE JEROME PAPES, TRUSTEE BOB KESLING, AND TREASURER PATTI GEERS, WE HAD 4 GUEST ATTEND. MINUTES WERE APPROVED AS PRESENTED. MOTION WAS MADE BY JEROME TO APPROVE PAYMENT OF BILLS, BOB SECONDED MOTION CARRIED COUNTY COMMISSIONER REPORT WAS GIVEN BY COMMISSIONER JANET ANDERSEN. KAITLYN SZCYPKA WAS HIRED AS A DEPUTY COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR, AND, FABIAN KNIZACKY, PRESENT ADMINISTRATOR AGREED TO STAY ONE MORE YEAR TO TRAIN KAITLYN. FABIAN HAD ONE REQUEST, AND THAT WAS HE WANTED THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TO PLEDE MONEY TO- WARDS THE HOUSING SITUATION IN MASON COUNTY. THE COMMISSIONERS PLEDGED 5 MILLION DOLLARS TOWARDS THE HOUSING PROJECTS. SHERIFF’S REPORT GIVEN BY SHERIFF KIM COLE. THERE WERE 22 CALLS IN THE TOWNSHIP LAST MONTH. 9 CRASHES, HE SAID STILL A LOT OF CAR/DEER ACCIDENTS, ONE ARREST ON CHILD PORN. HE SAID THEY ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS FOR THE JAIL CORRECTION OFFICERS, AND SAID THURSDAY THEY WOULD BE HONORING TWO DEPUTIES FOR SERVICE, RUSS PHILLIPS, AND JUSTIN SUNDAY. TREASURER REPORTED THAT THE MONEY MARKET FUND BALANCE ON 10/31/23 WAS $371,626.13, RECEIPTS FOR NOV- EMBER WERE $31,863.88, INTEREST WAS $48.94, DISBURSEMENTS WERE $9,960.20. JEROME MADE A MOTION TO ACCEPT THE LETTER OF RESIGNATION FROM SUPERVISOR MAZUR. BOB SECONDED MOTION CARRIED CLERK EGELER REPORTED THAT THE MASON COUNTY CLERKS WERE MEETING THURSDAY TO DISCUSS THE UPCOMING FEBRUARY PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY ELECTION. THIS IS THE FIRST ELECTION THAT IT IS MANDATORY TO HAVE THE EARLY NINE DAYS OF VOTING. NOTICES WILL HAVE TO BE SENT TO EVERY REGISTERED VOTER IN MASON COUNTY, TELLING WHERE THE NINE DAYS OF EARLY VOTING WILL BE CONSOLIDATED TO ALL VOTERS IN MASON COUNTY WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE CITY OF LUDINGTON. THE REST OF THE COUNTY, NINE DAYS WILL BE HELD AT THE SCOTTVILLE LIBRARY. THERE WILL ALSO BE A NOTICE IN THE PAPER. JEROME HAS GOTTEN ESTIMATES FROM SUPERIOR ELECTRIC FOR UPGRADES TO THE ELECTRIC AT THE TOWNHALL. LES JOHNSON WAS APPOINTED TO REPLACE GARY CASTONIA, DUE TO HEALTH ISSUES. NEXT REGULAR BOARD MEETING WILL BE THE 14TH. THEY WILL BE INTERVIEWING CANDIDATES FOR COUNTY ADMINSTRATOR. THERE ARE FOUR CANDIDATES. THEY ARE DOING A HOUSING STUDY, HOUSING OCCUPANCY IS AT 99.5% RIGHT NOW, THERE IS A LACK AT ALL LEVELS. THE COUNTY RE- CEIVED A MERMA GRANT FOR $100,000.00 FOR A CAMERA SYSTEM FOR THE MASON COUNTY JAIL. A HOUSING STUDY WILL BE PRESENTED 9-25-23 @LUDINGTON CENTER FOR THE ARTS AT 1:30, SCOTTVILLE MCC HIGH SCHOOL AT 7:30. THE COUNTY IS GOING LIVE WITH THE SEARCH FOR A NEW COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR. GOV. WITMER SEEMS TO HAVE THE SUPPORT FOR A LEGISLATIVE PUSH TO REQUIRE MICHIGAN UTILITES TO BE 100 PERCENT CLEAN ENERGY BY 2035. GOV. WHITMER SEEMS TO ALSO HAVE SUP- PORT THAT WOULD MOVE PERMITTING OF WIND AND SOLAR PROJECTS TO THE MPSA, STRIPPING LOCAL CONTROLS FROM THOSE WHO KNOW THEIR COMMUNITIES BEST. MEETING WAS CALLED TO ORDER AT 6 PM BY SUPERVISOR JIM MAZUR, ALL BOARD MEMBERS WERE PRESENT: CLERK BARBARA EGELER, TRUSTEE JEROME PAPES, TRUSTEE BOB KESLING, TREASURER PATTI GEERS. WE HAD NINE GUEST ATTEND. MINUTES FROM FEBRUARY WERE APPROVED AS PRESENTED. NO COUNTY COMMISSIONER REPORT. SHERIFF’S REPORT WAS GIVEN BY SHERIFF KIM COLE. 15 CALLS IN THE TOWNSHIP FOR FEBRUARY. JEROME MADE A MOTION TO APPROVE PAYMENT OF BILLS, A MARCH DISBURSEMENT FOR $9,180.00 WAS ALSO APPROVED, FOR HIGH PERFORMANCE CLEANING, FOR REMOVING TEN TREES FROM THE CEMETERIES. BOB SECONDED MOTION CARRIED DICK ROWLEY AND ROBIN ARLT FROM GRANT FIRE DEPARTMENT BROUGHT THE LUCAS STRYKER CHEST COMPRESSION SYSTEM TO DEMONSTRATE HOW IT WORKS. DALE GOODRICH IS HERE TO TALK ABOUT HOW THE RURAL FIRE AUTHORITY IS DOING. THEY HAVE HIRED CARLENE FULL TIME, THEY RECEIVED A GRANT FROM FEMA FOR $240,000.00, MODERN UNIFORMS TURNOUT GEAR, WASHERS & DRYERS THAT CAN KEEP THE NEW TURNOUT UNIFORMS CLEAN AFTER THE FIRE FIGHTING. THE GRANT COST THEM $12,000.00 OR 5% TO HAVE SOMEONE WRITE IT. ALL FIREFIGHTERS RECEIVED A 3% RAISE. THEY PURCHASED A NEW FIRE TRUCK, PELT MONEY (GOVERNMENT) IS BEING USED TO PAY FOR THE FIRE TRUCK. THEY ARE FORMING A COMMITTEE TO SEE HOW THE AUTHORITY IS DOING, WHAT THEY CAN DO TO MAKE IT FUNCTION BETTER, FINANCIALLY, WITH GETTING PEOPLE TO BE FIREFIGHTERS, ETC. TREASURER REPORTED THAT THE MONEY MARKET FUND BALANCE ON 1/31/23 WAS $322,261.96, RECEIPTS FOR FEBRUARY WERE $26,540.22, INTEREST WAS $37.14, DISBURSEMENTS WERE $6,318.28. LEAVING A BALANCE OF $342,521.04 ON 2/28/23. CHECKING ACCOUNT BALANCE REMAINS AT $300.00 ON 2/28/23. PERPETUAL CARE CERTIFICATE BALANCE REMAINS AT $62,821.14 ON 2/28/23. PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT FUND BALANCE REMAINS AT $297,344.56 ON 2/28/23. HALL RESERVATION FUND BALANCE ON 1/31/23 WAE $1,120.50, NO RECEIPTS, NO DISBURSEMENTS, INTEREST WAS .04 cents. LEAVING A BALANCE OF $1.120.54 ON 2/28/23. TAX ACCOUNT BALANCE ON 1/31/23 WAS $245,259.60, RECEIPTS FOR FEBRUARY WERE $419,325.98, DISBURSEMENTS WERE $599,826.61, NO INTEREST, LEAVING A BALANCE OF $64,758.97 ON 2/28/23. TREASURERS REPORT ACCEPTED AS PRESENTED CLERK TALKED ABOUT SOME OF THE CHANGES THAT ARE STARTING TO GET IMPLEMENTED FROM 2022 PROPOSAL 2. THE NINE DAYS EIGHT HOURS IN PERSON VOTING IS MANDATORY FOR FEDERAL AND STATE ELECTIONS, BUT IS UP TO INDIVIDUAL PRECINCTS FOR OTHER ELECTIONS. BARB MADE A MOTION THAT THE TOWNSHIP WRITE A LETTER OF SUPPORT FOR TRU STREAM BROADBAND, FOR THE ROBIN GRANT. JEROME SECONDED MOTION CARRIED TEN DEADTREES HAVE BEEN REMOVED FROM THE TWO CEMETERIES. EMERGENCY MANAGER LIZ REMINK IS LEAVING AFTER 16 YEARS, SHE IS TAKING A JOB AT A UNIVERSITY IN OHIO. SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICERS FOR MCE AND LUDINGTON , BOTH GOT FUNDING. THEY ARE STILL WORKING ON THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATORS POSOTION PROFILE. WORKING ON SENIOR SERVICES. GREAT LAKES ENERGY TRU STREAM COO CHRIS BARBER MET WITH JANET, AND THEY ARE WOWRKING ON PUTTING A PROPOSAL TOGETHER TO SERVICE THE NORTH END OF OCEANA COUNTY AND MASON COUNTY, FUNDING THRU THE ROBIN PRO GRAM. JEROME MADE A MOTION TO APPROVE PAYMENT OF BILLS. BOB SECONDED MOTION CARRIED JIM HAD GOTTEN A COUPLE OF ESTIMATES TO HAVE AT LEAST TEN TREES REMOVED BETWEEN BOTH CEMETERIES. THE BEST BID WAS HIGH PERFORMANCE TREE REMOVAL FOR $9180.00. BOB MADE A MOTION TO GO WITH HIGH PERFORMANCE TO REMOVE THE TREES FROM THE CEMETERIES. JEROME SECONDED.
